Downtown Knits Has My Heart

Hello my dear fiber friends! Welcome to the latest entry into the diary of HalesBee Handmade adventures! In the last two weeks I have twice gone to a Tuesday knit night at Downtown Knits in Apex, NC. I adore this shop and the knitters I’ve met here!

The owner, Michele, above on the left, is super sweet and right in the mix! She’s energetic and welcoming and definitely sets a tone of comfort, fun and openness. I had a great time sitting, knitting, chatting and venting. It’s a genuinely a wonderful space!

Downtown Knits has a great selection of yarn and a spacious set up. It almost feels like wandering about in a yarn resort with little alcoves adorned with samples and seating. And I love being able to touch sample fabric and who doesn’t love a place to sit?

Knitting for kids or grand kids? There’s an alcove for you, too! Did you look close at the wall? There are knitted mounted animal heads! Definitely prefer knitted heads to real stuffed ones πŸ™‚

Downtown Knits isn’t just for knitters, sewers rejoice! There’s a full classroom for sewing classes, which I fully intend to sign up for! From beginner to more advanced classes, you can learn from the ground up, refresh your skills or learn something new. Just look at that fabric selection! Michele has patterns, notions and even machines available for use in class if you don’t have your own!

You didn’t think I’d get thru two knit nights without treating myself, did you?! Of course not! Downtown Knits has some awesome indie dyers and I have never tried Woolen Boon before, so I was super excited to grab myself a skein of this Pop Rocks colorway!

If you are a knitter in the Raleigh/Durham area, you simply must stop in at Downtown Knits in Apex! Come in for a knit night on Tuesday or pop in for some yarn! There’s a pizza place and a cupcake shop on the same block – lunch, dessert and yarn anyone? I’m down if you’re down! Sign up for a sewing class and maybe you can have a new adventure right along with HalesBee!

I hope you have enjoyed this virtual visit to Downtown Knits with me! Do visit in real life and maybe I will see you at knit night!
